As a prelude to its 100th anniversary, the German Leather Museum (DLM) is presenting the exhibition “Linking Leather – The Diversity of Leather”, a multimedia, interactive installation dedicated entirely to leather as a material and offering the opportunity to familiarize oneself with the materiality of leather.
The multimedia exhibition with several projection screens is activated by the approach of the visitors. At various stations, text and images can be called up via gesture control, through which further associative content can be opened up. In this way, various types and techniques of leather are gradually integrated into a larger context and explained in a playful way.
What are the different types of leather? What are the best known tanning methods and how long have they been in use? What vegan leather alternatives are there, and what is the situation in the leather industry with regard to environmental protection? Visitors can move through the world of leather in various thematic areas. In addition, a feel station invites visitors to touch different types of leather and get to know them in all their diversity.
