Iteration or repetition in the design process is essential for progress in the development of design alternatives. Innovative and surprising structures can be created through both regular memorization and continuous change of a product’s structure. Parametric design with generative systems is helpful here in order to maintain control over design progress at all times. The development of luminaires for light rail systems by ERCO serves as the framework for this.
